ABSTRACT

For various items on the Doing Business Index and the Global Competitiveness Index, as pertains to public institutions, regional constructs are created. To create regional indicators, we use structural participation in regional GDP as factor weights. The idea behind using a weighted regional indicator is to give the reader an easy way to assess the Latin American region as if it were a single country. The items on the Global Competitiveness Index that are of particular interest are those that pertain to the realm of public institutions.
