ABSTRACT

Arthur Mellows Village College (AMVC) was one of the original seven schools that formed the SUPER partnership with the Faculty of Education in 1999. It was not one of those that had already been actively engaged in research with the university, nor was it one of those that actively sought a research relationship with the university. It had however been very active in the university’s initial teacher education and training (ITET) partnership with secondary schools; and its headteacher, who soon afterwards became co-chairman of that partnership’s steering group, had been suggesting that that partnership might take on a wider remit. AMVC was therefore invited, and enthusiastically agreed, to become part of this new research partnership.
