A decade of Thatcherism: 1979–89 – Thatcherism and Reaganomics compared

This chapter tries to evaluate Thatcher's macroeconomic performance in the decade or so when she was Britain's Prime Minister. Thatcher was first elected in May 1979 and then re-elected twice more in 1983 and in 1987. She retired from government in November 1990 before completing a full third term in office.
