ABSTRACT

US-China relations are arguably the most important and consequential bilateral ties in the twenty-first century. Since 1990, the bilateral relationship has experienced many ups and downs. What is the status of US-China relations now? What can we learn about the future trajectory of the bilateral relations from their interactions in the past and from other power transitions in history? This chapter summarizes the theoretical and empirical discussions of previous chapters and explores how a potential power transition from the United States to China will take place peacefully in the future.
