ABSTRACT

In the first four books of his last major literary work Theodoret presents an overview of Christian heresies from Simon Magus to Eutyches, whilst consecrating the fifth one to a systematic discussion of Christian theology. This five-volume work is generally referred to as the Haereticarum fabularum compendium (HFC), i.e. the Compendium of Heretical Fables or History of Heresies – to a certain extent against the original intent of the author, who gave this title only to the first four volumes of his treatise.1
