ABSTRACT

The ancient pattern of exile and return again is realized. The exile part here refers to the mass murder of most of Europe’s Jews. The return part comes in the restoration of Israel to the Land of Israel and creation of the State of Israel. This system tells ethnic Jews who they are, why they should be Jewish, what they should do because of that mode of identification. Ethnic Jews are all those who would have been put to death had they lived in World War II Europe, that is, those with a single Jewish grandparent. They should be Jewish to keep their group alive despite the best efforts of their enemies to annihilate them. What they should do because of their ethnic affiliation is remember the Holocaust and support the State of Israel. It goes without saying, Holocaust and Redemption also explain who the Jewish group is and how that group should relate to the rest of the world and to history.
