ABSTRACT
David Hume deplored the serious confusion that reigns with respect to this question owing to the ambiguity of the term, ‘freedom’. True enough, various concepts are to be distinguished here, and such outstanding philosophers as Locke, and even Plato and Aristotle, did not keep them sufficiently distinct.
