ABSTRACT
Practising teachers frequently dismiss educational theory as irrelevant to their daily
endeavours in schools: what seems ‘good in theory’ often turns out to be practically lame
on the classroom floor. Similarly, students and their parents are apt to put a discount on purely theoretical subjects which tend to be dismissed as irrelevant to life.
