ABSTRACT
In spite of the fact that Gramsci’s pedagogical theory is conservative and his proposals
for structural reform of the school system only look radical from a European perspective,
and in terms of traditional Marxist educational theory, it remains a fact that he believed
the achievement of workingclass hegemony to be an essentially educational enterprise.
