ABSTRACT

During the last couple of decades, businesses that have been looking for new ways to enhance their performance have increasingly implemented new, innovate office solutions. Many of these businesses or organizations have been what we may term knowledge based service providers. Surprisingly, one may observe that very different organizations implement workplace solutions that are almost similar. Does this mean that they have the same requirements and needs, or is this a result of some workplace solutions being 'in fashion'? We argue that this is a result of a superficial understanding of knowledge work, and of how office space may support knowledge work.
