ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the 52 Christian states not included in the previous chapter.1

These include 6 Christian states in Asia which are not part of the former Soviet bloc (called here non-former Soviet Asia), 21 in sub-Saharan Africa, and 25 Latin American states. Like the countries examined in the previous chapter, these countries have diverse histories and traditions. Yet they also share at least one commonality: that Christianity was brought to them with colonization from the West. The colonizers have officially left, and these countries are now independent, but Christianity remains the majority religion in all of these states. These states are similar in some respects to Western and former Soviet Christian states but different in others.
