ABSTRACT
In Chapters 2-9 I discuss what I believe to be the major theories, trends, and literatures that are relevant to the study of religion and politics. I have no doubt that someone else writing a volume like this one might have selected differently. Yet the examination of state religion policies across the world shows that all of the theories and literatures I discuss in Chapter 2-9 are relevant and significant.
