ABSTRACT

Increasingly, therapists are called upon to engage in professional activities that move beyond the therapy room and address the social context (Slep & Heyman, 2008). Psychotherapy represents just one component of a broad range of actions to respond to and reduce family violence and its corresponding outcomes. One way to conceptualize this range of responses is on a continuum of care as depicted in Figure 13.1 below (Slep & Heyman, 2008).
