ABSTRACT

Each year thousands of children 1 become victims of crime and violence. Sometimes these are very severe cases; sometimes they are less so. But in all cases, we see that children are left affected by what happens to them. Research reveals that young people are at a much greater risk of becoming victims of crime than the general population, with the figures indicating that young people run twice the risk of becoming victims than the population in general (Victim Support Scotland 2011).
