ABSTRACT

The process of inducting or introducing new staff to an organization goes under several different titles including induction and orientation. Induction was defined some years ago by the Department for Education and Employment in England as the ‘Arrangements made by or on behalf of the management to familiarize new employees with the working organization, welfare and safety matters, general conditions of employment and the work of the departments in which he (sic) is to be employed. It is a continuous process starting from the first contact with the employer.’
