ABSTRACT

Computer games can be viewed as rich interactive systems, which respond swiftly to a player's actions and provide relevant feedback. In this section I will explore some of the unique aspects of digital games, as opposed to traditional or nondigital games, that support learning. Technology-enhanced learning and digital media offer many benefits to the learner, such as the ability of a computer to provide fast automated responses, to model complex environments accurately, to adapt to the learning patterns of the users and to provide rich interactivity. They enable learners to stay connected at a distance, and interact with the environment in new and engaging ways.
