ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the feedback that supervisors often find they need to give their dissertation students about the selection of content that they have included in their chapters. If students have been given the type of advice outlined in Chapter 3, the amount of post-writing feedback required should be less than that which would be required if it had not been given. However, the effective application of advice may be something that takes some learners longer to achieve than others. It should be noted that the use that students make of the content they select for their chapters will be the focus of Chapter 5 where consideration is given to both pre-writing advice and post-writing feedback that students may need to be given on the coherence of the arguments they present from the content that has been selected.
