ABSTRACT
Writers are always in process, never arrived, finished and polished. Early career writers come from a variety of contexts — some are engaged in doctoral work, some are recently completed, some are working as jobbing contract researchers, others are practitioners whose continuing concern is the conduct of teaching and learning. Writers often struggle to move from these positions with their habituated ways of thinking, speaking and writing to a new position — that of the authoritative scholarly journal writer.
