ABSTRACT
One of the hallmarks of a metropolitan city is cultural diversity. Strolling along the streets of Chinese cities today, some of the richest and most beautiful in the world, you will hear not only the many languages of expatriates, but a medley of different dialects among Chinese nationals. Residents of Chinese cities come from all parts of the country, and have a variety of backgrounds.
