A global perspective on integrating crime prevention into planning systems

Our focus in this book is on the role of attempts to manipulate the physical environment in order to reduce crime and the opportunity to commit crime. Since in most modern industrialised societies, proposals to engage in development are mediated through planning systems, we want to focus in this chapter on the ways in which and the extent to which the crime prevention agenda is being addressed via planning processes.
