ABSTRACT

This chapter uses the case of a Swedish anti-racist magazine, Gringo, to elaborate on some of the theoretical points made in previous chapters. Let us stress that the content of Gringo discussed here functions merely as illustration: the aim is to make a number of claims about SIT, and suggest some ways Lacanian theory could be used to analyse processes of identification, social creativity and social change in media discourse. Readers more interested inGringomagazine, the multicultural and media context of Sweden, or the methodological and analytical procedures employed in the analysis of the material, should consult Dashtipour (2009).
