ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter we discussed the global landscape of entrepreneurial activity, emphasizing differences between high-income and low-income countries and between opportunity-based and necessity-based entrepreneurship. At the individual level entrepreneurship has the potential to be life sustaining or life changing. For communities, regions and nations, however, entrepreneurship can also have profound implications, increasing their wealth-creating capacity and promoting sustained increases in economic and social development.
