understand some of the major developments in religious thought, and thought about religion, in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which affected theology in the ‘long nineteenth century’ and beyond
understand what is meant by ‘the Enlightenment’ and why it is important
know about some changes in religious practice, and the place of religion in society, in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries that affected the ‘long nineteenth century’
have had the chance to reflect on the relationship between the history of theology and other aspects of history.
