ABSTRACT

The term “extreme therapy” was originally intended as an invective by critics of the Biodyne Model who regarded any behavioral interventions outside the sanctity of the therapy office to be extreme and unwarranted. In going in the direction of the resistance, the authors affectionately adopted the title, which very much pertains to co-located behavioral/primary care and many other approaches, but does not apply to the case of Lenore and the cyanide capsule. We reiterate: that is definitely out of bounds and was presented to demonstrate beyond any doubt the potential power of psychotherapy incisively applied.
