ABSTRACT
For the garlic patients that are analyzable, even though they may be Axis II individuals, they are still able to change through appropriate understanding. Their difference from analyzable onion patients is that their improvement follows experience rather than insight. It will be noted on the onion and garlic chart that the narcissistic personality disorder is still within the analyzable sector, while the borderline personality disorder is over the line and borders the non-analyzable garlic sector. This will become clearer as these types of cases are discussed.
