ABSTRACT

News, whether it is on television, online, on the radio or in newspapers, is one of the key areas of media analysis. In the 1990s it was estimated that over 70 per cent of adults in Britain got their news from television. Although today we have access to the news not only through the radio and newspapers but also through online news sites that we can access via computers, tablets or mobile phones, traditionally it is still television news that is the main source of news for the majority of people and so is generally the focus of analysis by media commentators and academics.
