ABSTRACT
THE Continent of South America stretches from some distance north of the Equator to the cold temperate regions of South Argentine, and, in consequence, the products vary; tropical rubber, coffee, and cocoa to wheat, maize, wool and meat of cooler climates. In addition, climatic conditions on the Western side of the great Andes range have produced a region of Mediterranean products in Central Chile, and in the north of that country, there are immense deposits of nitrates which form the chief export of that coast. There are also abundant supplies of minerals, although coal is not present to any considerable degree.
