ABSTRACT

Switzerland is one of the smallest countries in the world, with a minute population which enjoys a very high standard of living, and with a financial services industry which has come to play a key role in world financial markets. As a financial centre Switzerland's cities collectively rank with London, New York and Hong Kong. Switzerland's particular strength lies in its highly developed capital markets rather than in money markets, and in the investment management skills of its bankers, supported by the country's long tradition of neutrality, stability and the strength of its currency.
