ABSTRACT
Contemporary democracies are facing a challenge today. This challenge does not come from enemies within or outside the nation. Instead, the challenge comes from democracy’s own citizens, who have grown distrustful of politicians, skeptical about democratic institutions, and disillusioned about how the democratic process functions.
