ABSTRACT

This book aims to provide History teachers with a ‘menu’ of possible teaching methods for use in the small-group context. However, it does not aim to be prescriptive or didactic; it is, at bottom, a resource for teachers who like to vary their approach to small-group classes and who would like to experiment more. The resource was produced in its original form under the aegis of the History 2000 project, whose guiding principle - ‘Developing Teaching and Learning’ - has inspired a plethora of practical educational initiatives, not just this one. It is also important to state that the authors of this book - both practising teachers -have a powerful commitment to enhancing the quality of small-group teaching and learning.
