ABSTRACT
The House of Commons is central to British political life. And the layout of the chamber -two sides facing each other - is often remarked upon. The accusation is that it encourages confrontation where none, otherwise, might exist. Be that as it may, this activity is based around, and actually thrives on, the ‘confrontational’ nature of parliament.
