ABSTRACT

In a similar measure to facilitate travel while maintaining security, the US Department of Homeland Security has also implemented a Registered Traveler Program (RTP). The RTP allows selected frequent airline travelers to have priority in airport security lines in exchange for providing more personal information. The program began with several thousand frequent travelers hand-picked by the airline companies and was implemented at six airports. Following an evaluation by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the program was expanded because of the strong support from the travel industry, major airports, and the traveling public.
