ABSTRACT

Active listening and analysis mean listening to how a speech is built up, what it is really about, what are the main points and what the speaker is trying to say. It is also about listening to all of a speech, not drifting off in the middle and not missing a single word of what the speaker says. In this part of the book we again isolate a skill and practise it on its own. Practising the analysis of texts without the time pressure of interpreting can help automize the analysis task before you try doing the same thing in the heat of the interpreting action.
