ABSTRACT

“For as to the credit in the Exchequer, how that will succeed no man can answer, only I assure you no pains shall be wanting to establish it. And to show the King that though these gentlemen [of the National Land Bank] have failed him, there is yet some hope, and that the Bank of England is still devoted to him under all the discouragement they have met with, they do by this post give Mr. Hill credit for one million florins.”
