ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a basic framework and provides ideas on how to create a strategic plan for human resources. Human resources in an organisation are the people with knowledge, creativity, professional skills, capacities and personal qualities. Planning human resources in an arts organisation requires a good understanding of how the overall system of human resource management operates. Strategic human resource planning is part of the Human resource management system that develops strategies on who will realize the strategic plan and how to prepare the people within the organisation for the envisaged long-term changes. Planning and managing human resources in the field of arts is a process which requires a lot of attention and a high level of competence, especially when engaging people in creative group processes. A very important part of strategic planning of human resources is to evaluate how many and what kind of people are needed to achieve the long-term goals of an organisation.
