ABSTRACT
Potentially this is an overwhelmingly large subject. It includes the history of the English language (450AD to the present), the technical ways in which languages change, a look at contemporary changes in language and a consideration of English as a world language. It might seem overwhelming but it is also absolutely fascinating.
