ABSTRACT
The previous three chapters of this book have dealt separately with poetry, prose fiction and drama – and have focused on ways of contextualising set text study by teaching students about aspects of those forms beyond the set text, thus deepening students’ understandings and strengthening their interpretations. In this chapter and the next, we broaden our focus on teaching texts in context by examining a number of issues that cross the boundaries of specific literary forms.
