ABSTRACT
Section 3 focuses on the status of different languages and tackles the question of language hierarchies. It problematizes the notion of a ‘standard’ variety in order to unpack issues of status, access and power. It begins with an activity that immediately makes the link between our repertoire of languages and our identities.
