ABSTRACT
Writing about the future is always a quandary of trend vs fact, wish vs reality. The prognosticator who radiates confidence today might be humbled tomorrow, yet there is value in defining overall trend lines and combining these trends with overall patterns—in the case of fantasy sport, patterns of media use, sport fandom, and game play. This chapter attempts to develop the keenest possible sense of what the future holds for fantasy sport, while acknowledging that one major change in circumstances (e.g. a work stoppage in a given sport, or rulings regarding fantasy sport and gambling) could dramatically shift virtually all portions of what has become the fantasy sport empire.
