ABSTRACT

As various humanists and social scientists began writing about globalization in the 1990s (when the term was first introduced to the English language), interest quickly surfaced in defining the qualities of global citizenship. Many commented on the gap between global political structures and behaviors, and the rapid pace of global change in economics or the environment. Greater attention to global ethics seemed to be a vital part of repairing some of the damage that globalization was causing in the world at large.
