ABSTRACT
The landform patterns and processes described in Chapter Six form the basic structures upon which ecological and human activity have developed. For the next stage in our quest for relationships and their application to design, we turn to vegetation, its distribution and dynamics. Vegetation is one of the major com- ponents of the terrestrial ecosystem, so the interactions that occur between vegetation, landforms and climate are of fundamental importance – as evidenced by the large-scale vegetation zones related to climate noted in Chapter Five.
