ABSTRACT
Infrastructure allows water, power, food, and transportation to be available to society. We have become accustomed to these services and traditionally view these technical, built systems as our true infrastructure. This traditional ‘gray’ infrastructure of power lines, roads, sewers, levees, and ports provide essential services yet they are often planned and designed in opposition to, or in isolation from, existing natural systems.
