ABSTRACT

Uulia Kristeva)' Doris Lessing is a prolific writer who has continued to develop and explore new areas in her fiction. Apart from the central axes of class, gender and race which plot her writing, age is another factor that affects the position from which she starts her work. Unlike the others, age is a variable, and perhaps that is why it is so seldom considered significant in any writer except in relation to subject matter. She herself has labelled it 'the degenerative disease" but there seems no evidence for any deleterious effect on her writing.
