ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines pervasive developmental disorders then autism and Asperger syndrome. It explains the prevalence of autism and its apparent causes before looking at identification and assessment of autism and Asperger’s syndrome. Regarding provision, the chapter considers curriculum and assessment; pedagogy; resources; therapy; organisation; and other aspects.
