ABSTRACT

Ways of sharing data and information with pupils and other staff members are explored in this chapter. The approaches described aim to show the dynamics involved in this process, and the potential that sharing such information can have on students themselves and their teachers. It is stressed that this sharing of data and information is not a straightforward process, and that it can sometimes lead to fruitful tensions in bringing to the surface issues that are difficult to discuss and deal with. This is, therefore, without doubt, a crucial step in the whole process, which, if dealt with carefully, will usually lead to the next step, that of dealing with marginalisation.
