ABSTRACT
The start of the third Conservative Government saw the completion of the sale of the British Airports Authority (BAA). Uncertainty over the timing and form privatisation should take had slowed down the sale. However, by the time the 1987 General Election was called the marketing of the offer for sale was well advanced. The privatisation was completed in July, within weeks of the Election result.
