ABSTRACT
This chapter considers regression techniques where the dependent variable (DV) consists of multiple categories or counts. Multinomial or ordinal logistic regression is used when the DV consists of categories (unordered and ordered, respectively); Poisson regression is used for count data. For all three techniques, the independent variable or variables (IVs) can be metric or nominal. Ordinal IVs can be used in certain situations.
