ABSTRACT

Eva and Jeremy are self-proclaimed ‘foodies’ whose round-the-world travel blog, Forks and Jets, revolves primarily around food and beer. Filled with stories of epic meals and photographs of food and drink from around the world, the blog documents a mobile feast. So, it is somewhat surprising to read in the introduction to their blog that what motivated their year-long world journey was not a desire to eat, but rather a desire to escape:

We are Eva & Jeremy and we are going to escape. We are escaping the 9 to 5, the 40 hour work week, the daily commute, cable television, apartment rent, owning furniture. We are escaping our small corner of the world, known as Los Angeles, because we believe there is a bigger world out there. We want to meet it, eat it, bump into it and get a better look at it. … We don’t want to be content with two-week vacations once a year, sitting in front of a computer monitor and buying a home, mowing the lawn. Sometimes you have to escape the box completely to think outside it.
