ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 begins with a map that shows moves and can be used to identify primary resources for children, key people who have helped them in the past, and who could help them in the future. Children know that journeys have a starting point and destinations that can be pictured on a map. Maps have a magical quality and can lead to buried treasures. Similarly, life story work can be seen as a process of locating and recovering lost caring relationships (buried treasures) after traumatic experiences. Children also know that maps can keep them from getting lost and far away from dangers.
