ABSTRACT

The blocking sessions are completed. Now the director will take you through the play, one act at a time, as he or she tries to bring the entire play into focus. It is at this point that the director will work on such elements as:

climaxes, large and small; sustaining interest and excitement from scene to scene, progressively building to the main climax

variety

improving the composition; using the stage areas carefully, not overworking one area

units of the act, especially exits and entrances.
